Flower Care Guide

Flowers are a living piece of nature and require some essential hygiene practices to improve their vase life. We recommend the following generally, however, each species andtheir varieties often have individual requirements.

We want you maximize the pleasure of having flowers around, so here are some tips to extend its lifespan:

Vase Arrangements

If your flowers arrive in a vase, wrapped in damp nappies at the end of the stems, follow these steps:

  • Unpack: Carefully take the flowers and vase out of the box.
  • Unwrap: Remove the wrapping, which protects the flowers during transit
  • Fill Vase: Pour fresh tap water into the vase until it is 3/4 full (only 1/4 full for tulips).
  • Add Flower Food: Add the provided flower food to the water to extend the life of your flowers (do not add flower food for tulips).
  1. If you don't have flower food, you can make a homemade solution. Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 2 tablespoons of white vinegar per liter of water. This homemade mixture provides nutrients to keep your flowers fresh longer.
  • Follow Instructions: Read and follow the guidelines on the back of the flower food sachet.
  • Remove Leaves: Strip away any leaves that would be below the water line to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Place Properly: Put the vase in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
  • Refresh Arrangement: Every 2-3 days, remove any drooping flowers or leaves, trim the stems, cut about 1 cm off the ends of the stems at an angle to help them absorb water better, and replace the water to keep the arrangement fresh.

Basket & Hatbox Arrangements

For flower arrangements with floral foam, like baskets:

  • Regularly inspect the floral foam to ensure it remains moist.
  • Add water directly into the foam if it becomes dry, taking care not to overwater to avoid damaging the basket.
  • Position the flowers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
