The Aphelandra is fairly popular as a house plant. It has lovely dark glossy green leaves with prominent white veins. The leaves on the Zebra plant grow to about 20cm long and a few cms wide and have pointed tips. The leaf structure is probably why it is commonly called 'Zebra plant'. It can also produce beautiful yellow bracts if placed in the right location.
Care tip:
Keep the plant in a spot with good daylight (but not direct sunlight) and maintain its soil evenly moist. Keep an eye out for its signature yellow bract, which, if sucessful, will come in late summer or autumn. This plant can grow to about 1 meter over 3 or 4 years
